How We Came To Be
The Story
Behind Lice Solutions Resource Network, Inc.
In 1998
a group of parents became concerned with the increasing number of
head lice cases found in their children's school. Sure they were an
isolated situation, they began to research ways in which other schools
managed to avoid infestations within their school systems. What they
found was even more alarming. Head lice were growing at epidemic proportions,
not only in their local area but across the country as well. Nowhere
were families truly safe from the risk of head lice exposure.
It was with this realization that Lice Solutions was first formed.
In a hope to answer cries from desperate parents- Lice Solutions worked
with trained technicians to assist parents as they set out to battle
their unwelcome houseguest.
From the start, Lice Solutions desire was to provide parents with
safe and effective means for dealing with head lice. Their goal was
to better educate parents in ways to prevent the spread of head lice
in hopes of minimizing the ever-growing number of cases. They also
hoped with a better understanding they could effectively help end
the negative stigma associated with having head lice.
While strides have been made in that direction it hasn't been easy.
Technicians began traveling across a three county area and in a few
cases- even to other states where no help was available. Phone support
was made available not only in our local calling area, but also in
just about every state in the country. In one such case a call was
even returned to Great Britain. Understandably this became a tiresome
and costly project. Much of the burden of this cost has fallen on
the shoulders of those parents looking to help make a difference.
Fighting lice is a costly adventure for everyone, not only in regard
to treating it, but also as many parents have found- in missed wages
as they are forced to tend to the pain staking and often uncertain
task of removing nits from their child's hair.
Lice Solutions has diligently looked for better ways to accomplish
their goal. It is for this reason they saw fit to re-think what they
hoped to accomplish within their organization. In doing so they formally
formed a non-profit, 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. Officially called
Lice Solutions Resource Network, Inc. and referred to as Lice Solutions
RN, they continue to seek ways in which to fill the many needs of
desperate parents, schools and medical facilities; all forced to deal
with head lice in one way or another. With the opening of their first
nonprofit Head Lice Awareness and Control Center they have made yet
another step towards accomplishing this goal. With continued efforts
on their part and support from the communities benefiting from their
services, they hope to see more such facilities in the near future.
While we hope for your sake you never need their services- you'll
