Education
is the key to understanding. It is with that thought in mind that
we focus our goals towards better educating parents, children,
schools and the community in head lice issues. By working together
we can minimize the number of infestations seen in our community
each year, help reduce the negative stigma and help eliminate
the numerous myths associated with treating head lice.
Our staff
is available for community events, public speaking, training sessions
and classroom visits. There is no charge for this community outreach,
within our local service area. Likewise, as a nonprofit organization,
we are unable to pay for booth space or such at community events.
All training
sessions are intended to be informative, educational and taught
at a level of understanding that will meet the needs of that particular
audience. Handout material is available upon request. We ask that
you notify the office at least two weeks in advance to schedule
a visit. A four to six week notice is required for events that
would involve our supplying displays, booths or carnival activities.
Our teams
of trained technicians are available to come to your school for
a thorough head check screening. To reach ultimate achievement
it is suggested that this should include the entire student body;
however it can involve as few as one hundred children. Screenings
are available, in our local service area, for a cost of $1.00
per head. Please understand that this cost is necessary due to
the time involved, extra staffing required and travel needed to
accommodate your request. A small price to pay for peace of mind!
No help in
your area? Our teams are available for special assignments in
outside areas- please call for pricing.
PTA
Meetings
Is your PTA
filled with concerned parents who seriously want to make their
school a better place? Are they actively involved and willing
to take a stand on issues they believe in? If so, we have speakers
available for upcoming PTA meetings, to assist in lice related
school events or simply to provide handouts, all in an attempt
to keep your parents better informed. We work closely with these
groups to help promote such events as Head Check Awareness Week,
Head Lice Prevention Month, Halloween Tips and Lice Patrol. All
events are geared to help keep our kids safe from lice.
We also have
fundraising programs available to challenge individual schools
to make lice safety an issue in their school. Handouts and prizes
are available for schools looking to take on this challenge. All
funds collect help in ongoing efforts to keep kids safe from lice
and ensure the continued availability of free and reduced treatments
for needy families.
Not sure if
you have head lice, but want someone to check? We offer individual
and family checks to confirm possible infestations. We strongly
encourage this before you waist time and money
treating the entire family. Individual checks run $15.00 each
or check the family for $50.00.
Please note
: should your family be found to have a problem and they wish
to be treated at our facility- only the cost of treatment will
apply. Head checks are billed only when a check alone is provided.
Throughout
the year we offer additional opportunities for children to be
checked free of charge. We strongly encourage all families to
take advantage of these opportunities and have your child's head
checked. Keep in mind- the sooner you identify head lice the easier
it is to contain it. We like to remind our families of that old
saying “A stitch in time saves nine”, the same theory applies
with head lice!
Complete
Nit Removal
Our trained
technicians are available to assist you in the removal of lice
and their nits. We use a safe, nontoxic, yet effective product
when working with your family. During your treatment we check
all family members, to rule out any additional cases that might
exist, in an attempt to help prevent possible re-infestation.
Our technicians are skilled in finding even the smallest nymph.
We work with paper thin strands of hair- combing and nit picking,
inch by inch. Because we do this all day - every day, we do it
right the first time and in considerably less time than a parent
would at home. Additionally, since we work in a kid friendly environment,
children tend to be more cooperative for the technicians, as they
relax and watch their favorite movies. Many parents only complaint
is that the kids can't wait to come back again!
During the
visit we work closely with the family to help educate them in
head lice issues and to offer a variety of preventative steps
in an attempt to safeguard the child from reoccurring cases. We
want to help keep your family safe from lice today and in the
future.
The cost of
this service is only $70.00 per hour and $20.00 per quarter hour.
While the average treatment takes two hours, it is dependent on
several factors; how much hair we are working with, how sever
the infestation is and how cooperative the child is. At an average
of $150.00 a treatment, it's a small price to pay for
the peace of mind that your family has been treated safely and
effectively the very first time.
Clients are
required to return to the office in one week for a recheck- this
is an important part of the treatment process. The cost of recheck
is $10.00- regardless of time spent or product used, with the first
recheck being billed at the initial visit. Should subsequent rechecks
be necessary, the charge remains at $10.00 regardless of number
of visits as long as you are involved in an ongoing treatment
program. This is extremely important for those individuals that
knowingly expose their children to a lice infested environment-
ex. school with a sever lice infestation, other family or friends
also battling the problem, etc. (We had one such neighborhood
where an entire 3 bock radius was battling it at the same time.)
Please note that all fees are due at time of service. We accept,
check, cash or credit card. Due to the large number of delinquent
accounts, we are no longer able to accept payment arrangements.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause for your family.
Please note-
our office hours are Monday thru Friday from 9 to 5. While we
close at 5PM we do not stop until completed with the last treatment,
in some cases that could mean an entire family and late hours
for our staff. Because we block a 2 hour timeframe we do not book
treatments after 3:30PM . For those individuals requiring weekend
visits, there is $150.00 for the first hour service charge
for opening the facility after hours and $100.00 for each
consecutive hour. Please understand that this
additional cost is necessary to help offset the cost of electricity
and overtime for the technicians.
While we can't
follow you home we can guarantee that we will stay with your family
as long as necessary, to help them through this current infestation.
Once treated, your child will be returned to class, nit free,
with a certificate stating completion of treatment and date of
follow-up visit.
Web
& Phone Support
Web &
phone support is offered for those living both in and outside
the range of a treatment facility. Sometimes a simple question
needs to be answered. Sometimes it's just the peace of mind we
gain, when we hear a friendly voice on the other end of the phone.
Whatever your reason, we encourage you to take advantage of the
services provided. Feel free to ask any questions you might have
concerning head lice. Emails are answered promptly, bulletin board
is available for those looking to ask a generic question or wanting
to post an opinion, and we are always willing to take the time
to talk with you on the phone. Keep in mind that the phones can
get hectic- if you should reach our voice- PLEASE leave a message-
we will return your call- even after hours! There is no need to
feel alone when there is help available. Stop wasting valuable
time doing all the wrong things and let us help you concentrate
on doing the right things!
While there
is no charge for these services, we strongly encourage you to
consider giving a donation to help further this cause. Donations
can be made by credit card thru the donation link on our web site
or checks can be mailed to the address at the bottom of this page.
Keep in mind while we don't pass the cost for these services on
to you, they do nonetheless cost us. Therefore if this site has
been helpful and informative – please help ensure that it continues
to be available for others as well. Remember all donations are
tax deductible and are much needed and appreciated- no
matter what the size !
Partnership
With Schools and State Organizations
As a nonprofit
organization we strive to develop programs that assist families
in need. The primary purpose of Lice Solutions is to keep children
in school. Therefore, we have programs available whereby we work
with the school nurses (or appropriate administration) on a referral
basis to help needy families; in the treatment of their school
children. This request must be made by the school through written
referral and with proof of financial need. It also requires the
receiving family to give back in the way of volunteer time, in
an ongoing effort to ensure that similar help is available for
others. If you are a school in our service area and have such
a need- contact our office. We will be happy to fax additional
information regarding these programs.
We would like
to think that we are all concerned citizens against head lice.
Regrettably, it's just not a subject that people like to talk
about. When we're the family fighting head lice it's easy to see
that there needs to be more help. Unfortunately, once we're past
the problem we are all too eager to get back to normal, leaving
behind any good intentions we might have had of trying to help
others.
Here at Lice
Solutions we refuse to sweep it under the rug. While not a pretty
subject – we do see the need. More importantly we have vowed to
make a difference.
Concerned
Citizens against Head lice agrees with that philosophy and they
too have taken a stand. The group consist of concerned parents,
businesses, healthcare professionals, childcare providers and
other concerned individuals- working together to stop the spread
of head lice. The goal of this organization is to educate the
public, and erase false stigmas associated with those found to
have head lice. Ultimately their goal is to live in a lice free
community.
In an attempt
to accomplish this they meet once a month were they are able to
share ideas, offer support and ultimately work together towards
fighting head lice. In doing so they are aggressively working
to make more educational material available to the public. They
have ongoing campaigns through Lice Solutions treatment facilities
in an attempt to provide early detection. They organize and participate
in fundraising activities that benefit the organization, as well
as needy families in the community. They even have long term goals
of helping establish additional locations, as well as producing
books and videos that are both educational and fun to watch.
While there
is no membership fee associated with this group, they do request
that their individual members make a minimum of a $25.00 donation
per year to this non profit organization and that their business
members make a minimum of $100.00 donation. This can be paid in
one payment or over the course of the year. They also ask each
member to volunteer at least 20 hours annually. A nonprofit's
status is based on many factors, among them is the ability to
get the community involved through volunteer work and that at
least 10% of revenues come from public support .
For those
interested, meetings are held at Lice Solutions headquarters the
first Thursday of each moth, from 6Pm till 8PM . While it's not
necessary to make every meeting it is strongly encouraged that
you attempt to come as often as possible. Since a light dinner
is provided, it is requested that you notify the staff of your
intentions to participate. Additionally, since space is sometimes
limited and time is of the essence, we ask that you do not bring
children to the meetings. Should you live outside the range of
a treatment facility- you can still participate both through your
kind donations and volunteer time within your own community. Give
the staff a call if you have additional questions regarding this
matter.
We can not
effectively hope to make a difference if we are not all willing
to work together. We encourage others to take a stand as well-
Get involved and help us as we strive to make a difference!
We realize
that not all cases of head lice exist in South Florida , nor do
they favor areas where help is readily available. While our hopes
are to provide help to all that need it, we realize that unfortunately
it's not always possible. If you are an individual or family with
a lice problem and can't find help close by, give us a call. If
we know of a service in your area- we will make that information
available through our Go Local page.
If your family
still needs help, and you are capable, a trip to South Florida
might be the next best thing. If necessary our technicians are
available to travel to other areas, however, additional cost is
involved, and therefore we suggest that if opting for this service
you make it a combined community or family effort.
If head lice
are an overwhelming problem in your community and help can not
be found, our technicians are available to come to your area for
screenings and nit removal. We are prepared to stay on location
as long as the lice problem deems necessary. Please have your
school or appropriate representative contact our offices to work
out necessary cost and details.
Many individuals
are looking to offer a nit removal service in their area. If you
think you have what it takes and want to expand your abilities
in this area, we provide a training session whereby you would
come to our facility and spend an intense week of training. During
this time we you will learn the fine technique of nit removal,
you'll be educated in head lice issues, and will leave with the
necessary tools to help assist families in your area. Cost of
this service is $1500.00 and does not include any travel or overhead
expense incurred by you .
Non
Profit Facility in Your Home Town
Our mission
is to open nonprofit treatment facilities in major cities across
the US . We are currently in the planning stages of opening several
satellite offices in Beacon schools in Palm Beach County , as
well as six additional offices throughout the state of Florida
.
If you would
like to have your area next on our map- give us a call. We will
be looking to continue expansion to those areas where help is
needed the most and with the community support to sustain such
a facility.
